Dr. Warren K. Wray is the founding Vice Chancellor of Global and Strategic Partnerships at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He served as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Missouri S&T from 2006 to 2014. He served as S&T’s Interim Chancellor during 2011-12. Prior to joining Missouri S&T, he was Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Michigan Technological University (MTU), Dean of the Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology and the Cruse Moss Professor of Engineering Education at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, and Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at Texas Tech University.
Dr. Wray is a registered professional engineer in three states, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and a Diplomate in the Academy of Geo-Professionals. His research interests center on expansive clay theory and practice, soil-structure interaction, slab-on-ground theory and performance, and pavement-subgrade interaction.
He retired from the USAF Active Reserves with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Dr. Wray has been Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator in more than 20 geotechnical and transportation engineering research projects and served as a senior investigator in additional research projects. During this period, he has published more than 50 technical articles or significant research reports and one textbook. He is active in professional and technical affairs and, in addition to the ASCE, is a member of several technical and professional societies.
As a faculty advisor to the Texas Tech ASCE Student Chapter, he was recognized nine times for outstanding service in this capacity by the national ASCE. He has been recognized as a Chi Epsilon Honor Member by Kansas State University, honored by KSU as a Distinguished Member of the College of Engineering Hall of Fame, and is a member of the KSU College of Engineering Advisory Council.
