Prospective Graduate Students

K-State CE has vibrant on-campus and distance graduate programs. In 2010-2011 the department graduated 42 masters students. It is also one of the highest Ph.D. producers in the College of Engineering. Graduates of the master's program go on to work for consulting firms or city and state governments, while several Ph.D. graduates have also joined universities as faculty members.

The duration of study for a typical MS program is 3 to 4 semesters while that for a typical Ph.D. is 6 to 8 semesters. Most graduate students are supported on research assistantships provided by individual faculty members. Therefore, prospective students should directly contact faculty members in their area of interest to enquire about assistantship opportunities. A limited number of teaching assistantships are also available but are assigned to students who have been on campus and passed the K-State SPEAK test.
