MKEC Enhancement Fund provides flexible support for civil engineering
For Greg and Debbie Allison, Kansas State University is synonymous with family. That’s why the Wichita, Kansas couple has remained involved with K-State in a variety of ways, not the least of which is their role as parents of a current student and a recent graduate.
“We love K-State, and we are appreciative of the opportunities we have been given because of my time there as a student,” said Greg Allison ‘84, vice president of civil engineering services with MKEC Engineering.
Greg currently serves on the Department of Civil Engineering’s Advisory Council. Additionally, his MKEC colleagues help recruit engineering students for internship and career opportunities through K-State career fairs, networking and campus conferences.
The Allisons most recently made a gift to the MKEC Civil Engineering Enhancement Fund to provide the Department of Civil Engineering with financial flexibility to respond to opportunities as they arise.
“We are hopeful that our gift can be used to directly enhance student opportunities,” Greg said. “We want to help students while at K-State and ultimately as they move forward into their careers.”
It is gratifying that the Department of Civil Engineering receives strong financial support from loyal and generous alumni, said Department Head Robert Stokes.
“The Allisons’ support has been used for travel, lodging and registration fees for professional meetings, seminars and workshops for our faculty and students and to purchase much-needed equipment for our labs and classrooms,” Stokes said. “Our department is truly blessed to have such dedicated supporters.”
